The Phillies have made a deal with the Orioles at the buzzer.
They have acquired right-handed pitcher Seth Johnson from Baltimore in exchange for Gregory Soto. Kiley McDaniel of ESPN first reported Johnson to the Phillies. Jim Salisbury was first with Soto going to the Orioles.
Johnson, who was on the Orioles’ 40-man roster, is the No. 12 prospect in the Orioles system, according to Baseball America. Todd Zolecki of MLB.com is also reporting that Single-A right-handed pitcher Moises Chace is also going to the Phillies as part of the deal.
Johnson, 25, has a 2.63 ERA across 18 starts for Double-A Bowie in 2024.
Soto will join former teammates Seranthony Domínguez and Craig Kimbrel in the Orioles bullpen.
