Phillies fans should hope they get to know the Strauss logo awfully well over the next couple months.
Not necessarily because they want it in the first place, of course. In news that continues the recent wave of advertisements on MLB uniforms, the ostrich logo of Strauss will be on helmets for the entire postseason, as well as regular season games in Europe and, starting next year, the minor leagues.
The deal with Strauss — a German workwear company — runs through fall 2027.
The announcement escalates the increasing trend of jersey sponsorships, which all but a handful of teams have introduced since the league began allowing it last season. That includes the Phillies, who unveiled their Independence Blue Cross sponsorship on the last day of July.
Of relevance to the Phillies for as long as they’re in the postseason, here’s what the Strauss logo looks like on a red helmet.
