Phillies Injury Updates: Spencer Turnbull likely to pitch in intrasquad game during bye week

Spencer Turnbull (right lat strain)
Status: 60-day injured list
Turnbull last pitched in a game on June 26 at Detroit. He experienced a setback in mid-August, but is now trying to ramp up in an attempt to make a 2024 comeback as a reliever.
He is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session at Coca Cola Park, the home of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, on Friday, Sept. 27. If all goes well, he will pitch in the Phillies’ intrasquad game at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday, Oct. 2, per NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Corey Seidman. (Updated by Destiny Lugardo on Sept. 27)

Andrew Painter (Tommy John surgery)
Status: Minor league 60-day injured list; Expected back in 2025
The No. 1 overall prospect in the Phillies’ minor league system underwent Tommy John surgery on July 25, 2023.
Painter threw live batting practice on Sept. 17, according to MLB.com. He will not pitch in the Arizona Fall League (Updated by Destiny Lugardo on Sept. 27)
