Former Phillies outfielder Jake Cave is signing with the KBO’s Doosan Bears, the team announced on Tuesday.

Cave, 31, will head to South Korea for a year after spending last season with the Colorado Rockies. He competed for a bench spot with the Phillies in spring training a year ago, but lost out to Cristian Pache and was traded to the Rockies for cash considerations. Pache was later traded to the Orioles as part of the Austin Hays for Seranthony Domínguez swap in July. Pache was DFA’d days later and picked up by the Marlins. He is currently a free agent.

Cave had an excellent year at the plate during his time with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs in 2023, but couldn’t replicate that success in the majors. With Lehigh Valley, Cave slashed an insane .346/.429/.684 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs in 275 plate appearances.

He was promoted to the majors for good in late July after a shorter stint with the Phillies earlier in the season and couldn’t get going. He finished the year in the majors with a .212/.272/.348 slash line. Cave also made the final out in Game 7 of the NLCS.
