The Phillies have promoted Mark Lowy to assistant pitching coach, the team announced Wednesday.

The announcement comes a day after former assistant pitching coach and director of pitching development Brian Kaplan left the club to become the pitching coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Lowy, 32, has been in the Phillies organization since 2021. He started as a part-time employee in the club’s player development department before being hired full time as a pitching development analyst in 2022. He worked as an upper-level pitching coordinator in 2023 before shifting over to the major league club in 2024 as the lead pitching development analyst.

An alum of Gettysburg College, Lowy worked with Kaplan at Cressey Sports Performance in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. before joining the Phillies.

Pitching coach Caleb Cotham will return for a fifth season with the Phillies. Cesar Ramos will be back for a second season as bullpen coach.

Kaplan, a co-founder of Cressey Sports Performance, spent three seasons as the Phillies assistant pitching coach. Kaplan was originally recruited to the organization by Sam Fuld, who is pulling back on some of his GM duties to pursue an MBA at the Wharton School of Business and become the Phillies president of business operations in May 2026.
