No offense to the Phillies, but pitchers and catchers are not on everyone’s mind back home.
Philadelphia sports fans are getting ready to celebrate the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs with a parade down Broad Street on Valentine’s Day. The 2024 Eagles are likely to go as the most dominant team in Philadelphia sports history after going 16-1 after the bye week and destroying one of the best coach and quarterback combinations in league history in Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid to win a title.
Prepare to hear a ton of E-A-G-L-E-S chants at the ballpark.
What would the Phillies equivalent of the Eagles season be? It’s winning 110 games and repeating as NL East champions, Trea Turner recapturing his star power and finishing third in the National League MVP race and playoff wins over the Dodgers and Braves to advance to the World Series to face the Astros. Closer Andrew Painter will be on the mound for the final out to secure the Phillies’ third World Series championship.
It would be something, especially after the last two brutal exits in the postseason and the fan skepticism that came with it.
Will the Phillies be the next team in Philadelphia to win a championship? Or will the Eagles repeat again before the Phillies can finish the job? Could the Flyers’ never-ending rebuild finally lead to a Stanley Cup victory in the next few years? Will the Sixers ever get it together?
