Phillies Injury Updates: Brandon Marsh leaves rehab game early due to cramping

The Latest Phillies Injury Update

• Brandon Marsh (right hamstring strain) 
• Status: 10-day injured list, currently on rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley
• The Phillies on Sunday, April 20 placed outfielder Brandon Marsh on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 17) with a right hamstring strain. He has not played since April 16 after tweaking his knee on a play in center field during the Giants series. Cal Stevenson was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his spot on the roster.
• Marsh was lifted from his fourth rehab game on Sunday, April 27 after two at-bats due to cramping in his right hamstring, manager Rob Thomson told reporters in Chicago. • Status: 15-day injured list;
• Began rehab assignment on Thursday, April 10.
• Left-hander Ranger Suárez is on the injured list with back stiffness. He dealt with a back issue last year as well. Taijuan Walker has taken his place in the rotation for the time being.
• Suárez pitched 4 2/3 innings in his fourth rehab start at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday, April 27. The Phillies will reevaluate him in Philadelphia. He could make his season debut during the Diamondbacks series. — Last Updated April 28 by Destiny Lugardo

• Cristopher Sánchez (left forearm soreness)
• Status: Next start pushed back
• Cristopher Sánchez left his Tuesday, April 22 start against the New York Mets after just two innings due to left forearm soreness. The Phillies were confident the night of that Sánchez avoided any structural damage, and they appear to be right so far. The team is pinning the early exit on general body soreness Sánchez experienced that day.
• The Phillies told reporters in Chicago that they are pushing back his next scheduled start. Sánchez was supposed to start on Tuesday, April 29 against the Washington Nationals. • Status: Assigned to Clearwater Threshers; Could be pitching in the majors this summer
• Top prospect Andrew Painter should be in line to make his big-league debut in “July-ish” as Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski put it this offseason. He hasn’t pitched in a regular season game since injuring his elbow during the spring of 2023, but he should be ready to make an impact once he’s up, even in a limited workload.
• Painter, assigned to Low-A Clearwater, pitched three scoreless innings on Friday night, his second start of the year. He threw 49 pitches and allowed three hits and no runs. The right-hander struck out four hitters and walked none. His next start will be Thursday in Clearwater, per Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
