Rounds 3-10 of the MLB draft will take place Monday. With the No. 17 selection, the Phillies drafted outfielder Justin Crawford out of Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada.
The Phillies have the No. 93 and No. 122 selections as well as the 16th pick in subsequent rounds. The draft will conclude on Tuesday with rounds 11-20.
- Round 3 — No. 93: Gabriel Rincones Jr., outfielder, Florida Atlantic
Rincones, 21, is a 6’4″ power-hitting corner outfielder who could move to first base in the future. He had 19 home runs last season with Florida Atlantic and can hit the ball hard with pull-side power. Defense is not his strong suit, but he can definitely hit.
Rincones is from Scotland and played for the Great Britain national team.
- Round 4 — No. 122: Alex McFarlane, right-handed pitcher, Miami
McFarlane, 21, is from the U.S. Virgin Islands and ranked 167th on MLB.com‘s Top 200 draft prospects. He’s got a plus fastball. MLB.com‘s Jonathan Mayo says McFarlane could touch triple digits in short stints. Perhaps McFarlane could be a fast riser if the Phillies could improve his command. He walked 20 batters in 45 innings last season with the Hurricanes.
- Round 5 — No. 152: Orion Kerkering, right-handed pitcher, South Florida
Phillies go back-to-back with right-handed college pitchers out of Florida. He’s ranked No. 204 on MLB.com‘s list. Kerkering, 21, throws exclusively out of the stretch and has a good slider. He’s likely a bullpen arm.
- Round 6 — No. 182: Mavis Graves, left-handed pitcher, Eastside High School (South Carolina)
MLB.com’s Jim Callis calls Graves, 19, more of a development project for the Phillies. He can reach 94 mph with his fastball, but needs to throw more strikes.
- Round 7 — No. 212: Caleb Ricketts, catcher, San Diego
Ricketts, 22, was this year’s West Coast Conference Player of the Year after leading the circuit in hits (85) and home runs (16). If he doesn’t stick as a catcher, MLB.com‘s Jonathan Mayo thinks he can move to a corner outfield spot.

- Round 8 — No. 243: Alex Rao, right-handed pitcher, Notre Dame
Rao, 22, had a 3.83 ERA in 25 relief appearances with 57 strikeouts in 2022. His fastball sits at 93-96 mph and he throws a split change. — Tim Zhai
- Round 9 — No. 272: Chad Castillo, outfielder, California Baptist University
Castillo, 22, was named to the NCAA Division I All-West Region Second Team in 2022, hitting .386/.442/.635 with 11 homers in 56 games. — Tim Zhai
- Round 10 — No. 302: Gustavo Sosa, catcher, South Mountain CC
Sosa, 21, was previously drafted in the 19th round in the 2019 draft by Toronto. He hit .337 with 9 homers in 54 games in 2022, earning him a Second Team All-ACCAC selection. — Tim Zhai
