Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy will be away from the team this weekend calling football, which will cause a shift in both the TV and radio booths.
For the final three games of this weekend’s series in Miami, Scott Franzke will shift to the TV booth and be paired with Ruben Amaro Jr. on the telecasts. Gregg Murphy will then step in and assume play-by-play duties on the radio, joined by Larry Andersen as his color commentator.
McCarthy will be doing play-by-play for CBS‘ coverage of Arizona Cardinals at Buffalo Bills Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, a sneaky good game. He’ll be joined in the booth by Jay Feely and Ross Tucker, with Tiffany Blackmon as the sideline reporter.
A couple years ago, I asked McCarthy to run me through a stretch of nine September days where he alternated between the Phillies and multiple NFL games. People don’t get how insane the travel schedules can be for in-demand announcers.
