Phillies Beat Nationals On Tragic Day

With heavy hearts, the Phillies offense blasted the Nationals enough to defeat them, 9-8, on the day of the Nationals home opener, and the day Harry Kalas passed away.

The Phils got home runs by Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez and Shane Victorino, who pointed to the press box after his shot in the third inning.

Jamie Moyer surrendered four runs in six innings for the win. Clay Condrey battled through a two-run seventh, backed up by Scott Eyre. Ryan Madson pulled his changeup out of the bag for a strong eighth, and despite allowing a two-run home run, Brad Lidge secured his third save of the season.
