A Note for Today:
The Phillies hit 90 losses last night after falling to the Nationals 4-0, and only getting one hit off the Nationals pitching staff.
Alec Asher will look to get his first Major League win here at Citizens Bank Park. Asher pitched 5.0 innings against the Cubs in his last start on September 11th, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits.
Looking to avoid the sweep, something the Nationals have not done in CBP since 2011, the Phillies will face Gio Gonzalez on the mound who went 5.1 innings in his last start, giving up 4 hits and 1 run.
Aaron Altherr will play center for Odubel Herrera, who will get the night off. Herrera has been the work horse for the Phillies this year in center field, and that doesn’t look to be changing in the near future.
Freddy Galvis and Andres Blanco will lead off the order, with Jeff Francouer stepping into the cleanup spot. Darin Ruf will be getting the look at first base for the rest of the season now that it looks as though Ryan Howard may be out for the remainder of the year.
Chase d’Arnaud will get the look at third base while Cody Asche gets the evening off as well.
First pitch at 7:05 EST.
Lineup:
Galvis SS, Blanco 2B, Altherr CF, Francouer RF, Ruf 1B, Sweeney LF, d’Arnaud 3B, Rupp C, Asher RHP
