All Star Game: Three Phillies Headed to St. Louis

The fans voted for Chase Utley and Raul Ibanez to start the 2009 All Star Game in St. Louis.  Ryan Howard made the team as a reserve.

Utley is headed to his fourth consecutive All Star Game.  The last second baseman to start in four straight was Craig Biggio and the last Phillies player to do it was Mike Schmidt.  Utley is batting .301 with 18 home runs.

Ibanez, who remains on the disabled list, will make his first All Star appearance.

Ryan Howard will be making his second All Star appearance and first since 2006.  Howard is batting .252 and is third in the league with 60 runs batted in.

There is one empty roster spot.  The Phillies could have one more player headed to the mid-summer classic.  Vote Shane Victorino for the final vote!
