Aaron Nola continues surge in Phillies’ 6-1 win

Aaron NolaThe Phils entered Friday winners of two straight and welcoming a battered Brewers squad to Philadelphia losers of five straight. Both trends continued as the Phils handled the Milwaukee easily in a 6-1 win. Aaron Nola was dominant once again, tossing seven innings on five hits and allowing one earned run. Nola struck nine, and at one point, struck out eight of nine hitters from the third through the sixth inning. His fastball, curveball, and evolving changeup was all working to perfection. Freddy Galvis delivered on a first inning two-run homer out of the two-hole. He finished the night with three RBI. Tommy Joseph put the Phils at arms length with a two-run double in the sixth that put the Phils up 4-1. Cesar Hernandez drew a bases loaded walk and a Galvis sac fly ended the scoring. Maikel Franco and Odubel Herrera added a hit apiece, continuing their hot-hitting since the all-star break.

The Phils now have won there straight and four of five after the first two losses of last weekend’s series in Milwaukee. Jeremy Hellickson will be on the mound tomorrow night at 7:05 for a second straight series win.
