It was another rain-soaked week of Minor League Baseball for the teams of the Philadelphia Phillies farm system. But there still was a lot of news and information for us to look back on, so let’s dig in.
CURRENT RECORDS
- Lehigh Valley IronPigs 19-15
- Reading Fightin’ Phils 17-14
- Clearwater Threshers 16-19
- Lakewood BlueClaws 11-24
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Enyel De Los Santos went three scoreless innings for Lehigh Valley on Friday. It was his first start since being sent back to Triple-A after serving in the Phillies bullpen, so I don’t think they wanted to stretch him too far.
- Nice outing for Reading’s David Parkinson on Tuesday. The 23-year-old lefty went 6 innings, allowing two runs. walked none and struck out three.
- Nick Maton went 3-4 with a double, RBI, run scored, and a walk on Thursday for Clearwater. He followed that up by going 2-4 with an RBI on Friday, then ended the week with a 2-5 performance on Saturday.
- The club’s top prospect, Alec Bohm stayed hot. Bohm went 2-5 with a triple, two runs scored, and two RBIs on Friday. He then went 3-6 with a home run and two RBIs on Saturday.
- Matt Vierling went 3-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, one RBI, and two stolen bases for Clearwater on Friday. Vierling then went 3-5 on Saturday.
- Simon Muzziotti went 4-6 with a homer, an RBI, and two runs scored for Clearwater on Saturday.
- Luis Garcia went 2-4 for Lakewood on Thursday.
PIVETTA UPDATE
In his last start for Lehigh Valley, Nick Pivetta lasted seven innings while allowing three runs on three hits and three walks. He struck out seven batters while throwing 109 pitches.
NOTABLE SEASON STATS
- Bohm is slashing .344/.406/.544 with four home runs, 11 doubles, and 18 RBIs in 33 games this season.
- Vierling is hitting .317 with four homers, nine doubles, 18 RBIs, 16 runs, and 10 stolen bases in 32 games.
- Muzziotti is slashing .297/.354/.407 with 17 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 30 games.
- Garcia is slashing just .184/.260/.237 so far this season, but he’s been a little better lately. He’s played strong defensively, but the bat still has a lot of developmental time ahead.
- Maton is slashing .294/.385/.402 with two home runs and 18 RBIs.
- Ramon Rosso has an ERA of 2.73 after six starts for Reading. He has 35 strike outs in 29.2 innings, he’s only walked 10.
- Through five starts, Adonis Medina is struggling, having produced just a 5.40 ERA and a WHIP at the 1.46 mark.
- JoJo Romero has been struggling to say the least. He has an ERA of 9.00, a WHIP of 2.17, and opponents are hitting .352 against him in six starts.
- Adam Haseley is batting just .228 with three homers this season. His OBP is 110 points higher than his average, so he’s not pressing. I look for him to get hot soon.
- Mickey Moniak is slashing .223/.248/.421 with 36 strikeouts compared to only four walks in 29 games.
- Rafael Marchan is currently on the IL, but for the season he’s hitting .310 with seven walks and only six strikeouts.
- Kyle Dohy is starting to figure it out in Lehigh Valley. After a few rough appearances, his last two have been scoreless. He still has an ERA of 15. 63 in 6.1 innings and he’s walked 10 in that time. He’s also struck out 10.
- Kevin Gowdy has an ERA of 3.60 after five starts. He’s walked more than he’s struck out (16-13), but opponents are hitting just .170 off him.
- Manuel Silva has a 2.61 ERA in 10.1 innings. He’s started and worked out of relief this year.
- Deivy Grullon is hitting .354 with five home runs, 24 RBIs, and an OBP of .406.
- JD Hammer has a 0.51 ERA in 10 appearances for Reading. He’s struck out 19 in 17.2 innings.
