“The Baron” is the former Philadelphia Phillies head of community relations, a role in which he served the organization for more than four decades. Larry is also a 2018 inductee to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.

In addition to the Phillies alumni and history work which Larry shares with readers here at Phillies Nation, his “Minor League Report” pieces now also run with us all during the season as well.

Players of the Week (June 17–23)

Player — OF Jhailyn Ortiz, Clearwater… The 20-year-old posted a .333/.455/.889 slash line, going 9-for-27 with five home runs, 11 RBI, seven runs scored and five walks over seven games. The right-handed hitter homered in three consecutive games from June 18–20, including a multi-homer game on June 19 at Bradenton. Additionally, he slugged a grand slam on June 20 vs Daytona. A native of the Dominican Republic, Ortiz was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent in July 2015.

Co-Pitchers — RHP Kyle Glogoski, RHP Tyler Carr and LHP Keylan Killgore, Clearwater… This trio combined to toss a no-hitter on June 22 vs Daytona. Glogoski (W, 5.0 IP, 2 BB, 5 SO) made the start, while Carr (3.0 IP, BB, 4 SO) and Killgore (1.0 IP, SO) finished off the final four innings of that game. Glogoski, 20, was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent in January 2018 out of New Zealand. Carr, 23, was selected by the Phillies in the 31st round of the June 2018 draft out of South Alabama. And the 22-year-old Killgore was selected by the Phillies in the 17th round of the June 2018 draft out of Wichita State.

Lehigh Valley, International League North Division

**IronPigs (35–39) ended a 3–5 road trip with a 3–2 loss in Syracuse. PH Aaron Altherr was hit by a pitch to start the B8, stole 2nd and scored the decisive run on a single . . . Back home 7:05 tonight to face the Rochester Red Wings.

Pitching: LV used 5 pitchers . . . No decision for starter Roman Rosso, 4.1–4–2–2–5–4, HR . . . Tyler Gilbert, .2 . . . Luke Leftwich, 1–2–0–0–1–1 . . . Edubray Ramos, 1–1–0–0–1–0, hit batter . . . LP: Tom Windle (5–1), 1–1–1–1–0–0, hit batter.

Hitting: Pigs had the tying run on 2nd base with 1 out in T9 but couldn’t get a key hit . . . SS Andrew Romaine, 3–4, walk, run, 2 doubles, stolen base (14) . . . 1B Austin Listi, 2–4, double, RBI; 3rd straight multi-hit game; hitting .474 in 5 games in AAA, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 1.618 OPS.

**Fightin Phils (4–4) used a 5-run T5 to put away the Trenton Thunder, 9–2 . . . Rubber game 7:00 tonight in Trenton.

Pitching: Rehabbing Tommy Hunter started, 2–2–0–0–0–2; 18 pitches, 14 strikes . . . Jakob Hernandez was next, 1–0–0–0–1–1 . . . Normal starter Mauricio Llovera was 3rd, the winner (3–3), 5–7–2–2–0–2, hit batter . . . Addison Russ finished, 1–1–0–0–1–3.

Hitting: DH Josh Stephen, 2–5, double, triple, 2 runs, 2 RBI . . . 1B Darick Hall, 2–4, walk, run, 2 RBI (53), tops in EL . . . 2B Jose Gomez, 2–4, 2 runs . . . LF Cornelius Randolph, 2–4.

**Threshers (6–2) opened the road trip with a 5–3 win over the Flying Tigers in Lakeland . . . Middle game of the 3-game series, 6:30 tonight.

Pitching: Starter and winner — Alejandro Requena (6–4), 5–2–1–1–0–6, 2 hit batters . . . Tyler Ross, 2–1–2–1–0–1, HR . . . SV: Grant Dyer (6-for-6), 2–0–0–0–0–1; lowered ERA to 0.54; has allowed 2 earned runs, 1 on April 6 and 1 on April 16; in 3rd pro season (missed 2017 with right elbow strain), 119 strikeouts, 19 walks, 107.2 innings, 0.93 WHIP.

**BlueClaws (2–4) were held to 3 singles in a 5–0 loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds . . . They’ll try salvage 1 win in the series finale, 7:05 tonight . . . Claws are 1–9 vs. the Birds, all 10 games in Salisbury, MD.

Pitching: Starter Jhordany Mezquita was the loser (2–5), 5–4–2–2–1–7, HR

Hitting: Offense has produced 9 singles and 6 walks in losing the 1st 2 games . . . SS Jonathan Guzman, 2–4, last night.

**Crosscutters (2–9) rallied with 3 runs in T8 but fell short, 4–3, to the host Auburn Doubledays. Loss was 7th straight . . . Game 2, 7:00 tonight.

Pitching: Luis Ramirez was the starter and loser (0–1), 2.1–3–4–3–3–2, wild pitch . . . 2 relievers followed combining for 5.2 scoreless innings.

Hitting: Offense had 9 hits, 4 walks and 3 hit batters but left 13 on base . . . C Logan O’Hoppe, 3–4, walk, double, run, RBI . . . CF Hunter Markwardt, 2–5, RBI.

**East (1–1) lost, 3–1, in Dunedin when the Blue Jays scored 3 in B8. . . Fifth of 6 pitchers, Maikel Garrido (19-year-old LH, VZ) was charged with the loss, .2–1–3–3–3–1 . . . RH Andrew Schultz (6th round, Tennessee) made his pro debut in T5 a quick one, 1–1–0–0–0–0; 4 pitches, 3 strikes . . . SS Guarner Dipre (19-year-old from DR) led the offense, 2–5.
