Larry Shenk is the longtime Philadelphia Phillies official historian, and brought his Minor League Report and other historic pieces to Phillies Nation beginning in 2019.

“The Baron” is the former Philadelphia Phillies head of community relations, a role in which he served the organization for more than four decades. Larry is also a 2018 inductee to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.
In addition to the Phillies alumni and history work which Larry shares with readers here at Phillies Nation, his “Minor League Report” pieces now also run with us all during the season as well.

Players of the Week (July 1–7)
Player — INF Curtis Mead, GCL Phillies-East… The 18-year-old batted .611 (11–18) with two doubles, a triple, three RBI, three walks, two stolen bases, seven runs scored, a .682 on-base percentage and a 1.515 OPS in five games. Mead had four multi-hit games, including two three-hit efforts, and his .611 batting average was the second-best among all qualified minor league players last week. Mead, a native of Adelaide, Australia, was signed as an amateur free agent in May 2018.
Pitcher — RHP Francisco Morales, Lakewood… Morales, 19, made two appearances (one start) for Lakewood, combining to toss 9.0 scoreless innings with three hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts. He earned a 4.0-inning save on July 1, surrendering one hit while striking out five, and followed that with 5.0 shutout frames in his start on July 6. Morales, a native of Venezuela, was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent in July 2016.
