How about some good news today? Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly is reporting the Phillies are "hopeful" second baseman Chase Utley will be ready for Spring Training this year. Salisbury spoke to Phils' General Manager Ruben Amaro, who stated Utley has been working with Scott Sheridan, the Phillies head athletic trainer, who has given positive reports to the club. Salisbury reported the following quote from Amaro: “Chase is doing very, very well. Scott has been with him the last couple of days and he says Chase looks great and is feeling great. We hope it continues.” Utley has not played in a Spring Training game since 2010. Despite this, and the fact that he has only played in 186 games over the last two seasons, Utley has been the eighth most valuable second baseman in baseball according to fWAR.
