Bryce Harper homered twice with the IronPigs on Tuesday. (Cheryl Pursell) Bryce Harper’s rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley may have ended a few days earlier than originally planned, but Harper wasn’t about to leave the IronPigs empty-handed following his early departure. Harper treated his two-day teammates to a couple meals after his call-up (if you will), according to Tom Housenick of The Morning Call. First, it was a pregame spread from Mission BBQ before Friday’s game — a meal that the Braves’ affiliate Gwinnett Stripers, who were as eager as anyone to bid Harper farewell — also got to enjoy. Then, the $330 million man one-upped himself, supplying the ‘Pigs with Bethlehem’s PRIME Steak House on Saturday. It’s tradition for rehabbing Major League players to provide their temporary Minor League teammates with a feast. It’s not necessarily tradition for them to provide those teammates with two homers, two doubles (including a walk-off), five hits overall and six RBIs in eight at bats across two games, but Harper was apparently feeling generous. So was Brandon Marsh. The Phillies center fielder, whose two-day Triple-A rehab immediately followed Harper’s, served his teammates Chik-fil-A before Friday’s game. Rehabbing a left ankle sprain, Marsh went 3-for-4 and the IronPigs scored 14 runs after the two-part feast that day. Safe to say the contributions paid off — in appetites and on the scoreboard.
