Wall of Famer John Kruk will be back on the air Friday. (Gregory Fisher/Icon Sportswire) Despite another rough loss, the Philadelphia Phillies and their fans did get some good news on Monday: Phillies Wall of Famer John Kruk is set to return to the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast booth for the upcoming weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels, according to a tweet from Kruk himself in response to an inquisitive fan. https://twitter.com/JohnKruk/status/1531396701910716416?s=20&t=w91TfhcEWYnNMAjDNa1OeQ Kruk underwent successful gallbladder surgery on May 23 before heading back home to Florida to recover. The 61-year-old has been off the air since joining Tom McCarthy and Ben Davis for a May 20 matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Philadelphia. Kruk had tweeted two days before the surgery that he didn’t anticipate being away for too long, and of course, it’s great news that everything went according to plan. Friday will mark the end of a brief two-week hiatus. Whether he’ll have a few wins to celebrate this weekend is anyone’s guess, but one thing is for sure: A booth featuring Kruk and games that include Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Bryce Harper and Zack Wheeler should add up to plenty of entertainment.
