(Baseball Betsy)[/caption] 2018 first-round pick Alec Bohm may currently be on the disabled list with a shin contusion, but it hasn't stopped him from quickly becoming one of the top prospects in the Philadelphia Phillies organization in midseason countdowns. MLB Pipeline released their midseason update of the top 30 prospects in the Phillies system Thursday, and Bohm, who was selected with the No. 3 overall pick in June's MLB Draft, is already the Phillies No. 2 prospect. The former Wichita State Shocker was hitting just .192 in 52 at-bats for short-season Williamsport before going on the disabled list. That came after a 12 at-bat stint for the GCL Phillies, where he hit .500. He's currently a third baseman, though some have suggested that he could ultimately find himself in left field when he reaches the major league level. This scouting report suggested first base could also be an option. When Baseball America released their top 10 prospects by organization last week, Bohm also came in at No. 2 on their list. RHP Sixto Sanchez, also currently on the disabled list, came in at No. 1 on both lists. Sanchez, 19, was 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA in eight starts in 2018 for Single-A Clearwater before going down with right elbow inflammation. The prospect, who has drawn comparisons to Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez, could return to game action in August, per Ben Badler of Baseball America. Adonis Medina, who seemed to be at the forefront of Manny Machado negotiations with the Baltimore Orioles, is now the Phillies No. 3 overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Medina has had a rather strange season. He struck out 12 batters in his last start for Single-A Clearwater, though his ERA still sits at 4.48 on the season. However, Medina has allowed 39 earned runs in 16 starts this year, with 26 of those runs coming in four starts. That means he’s allowed just 13 earned runs in his other 12 starts. So there have certainly been some outliers.
