According to the writers following the team in Florida, Cole Hamels threw a 40 pitch bullpen session Wednesday morning and said he felt good. The next step in Hamels recovery will be to throw to live hitters in a bullpen session scheduled for Saturday. Today’s bullpen session comes three days after he threw a 33 pitch bullpen session. Hamels was recovering from shoulder inflammation when he pushed himself too hard and suffered a set back, a move that will land him on the DL to start the season. The fact that Hamels has thrown back to back bullpen sessions and has felt good is good news. An already depleted rotation is expecting the 30-year-old ace to start the season on the DL, but they're going to be in trouble if he suffers another setback.
