Want a reason why Baseball America ranked Dominic Brown the Phillies top prospect?
Brown went 4-for-5 with six runs batted in Saturday for the Threshers in a 11-6 win over Daytona. Four of Brown’s RBI came with two outs. Three of his four hits were singles. The fourth, an inside-the-park home run.
That home run, however, came at the expense of Daytona outfielders Tyler Colvin and Tony Campana, who collided and were knocked out for several minutes afterward. They were both sent to the hospital, where they recovered but were diagnosed with concussions.
Currently Brown tops the Florida State League in home runs (6), is second in RBI (25) and fifth in average (.330). He’s also second in runs scored (22). His 1.032 OPS is far and away tops in the league, 50 points ahead of second place. And his eight steals rank ninth in the league.
Soon enough Brown, 21, will reach Reading. There’s just no debate.
