Philadelphia Phillies (7-7) vs. San Diego Padres (3-12)

Roy Halladay (3-0, 1.17) v. Cory Luebke (1-1, 3.71)

Time: 8:35 PM, Petco Park
TV: PHL 17
Weather: 57, overcast
Media: Twitter and Facebook

BREAKING: Jim Salisbury of Comcast Sportsnet reported that Cliff Lee was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.  Joe Savery was called, and Kyle Kendrick will start in place of Lee.

Today’s Game:

The Phillies go for a franchise-record 14th straight win in a non-home ballpark when they take on the San Diego Padres at Petco Park tonight. The run of success has been remarkable, as the Phillies haven’t lost a game at Petco since August 16th, 2008. Yes, I lifted 99.9 percent of the previous two sentences from Ryan’s gameday post from last night.

Roy Halladay is the man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffell Tower out of metal and brawn. During the 2012 season, he has followed up those Halladayian efforts by giving up more walks (4) than earned runs (3). The Phils offense has come alive – for them anyway – during Halladay starts since Opening Day, putting up a five and seven spot during his last two outings. The Phils are hoping to continue that trend tonight and they are facing the right pitcher to do it.

Cory Luebke enters the game today after looking to build upon his last two starts in which he had given up only one earned run. Luebke is prone to high pitch counts due to his inability to garner swing strikes on batters. If the Phils can conjure up some patience and a sound mindset, they should have amble opportunities to make some noise with the bats.

Lineup: Pierre LF, Polanco 3B, Rollins SS, Pence RF, Victorino CF, Wigginton 1B, Galvis 2B, Schneider C, Halladay P.

Your Gameday Beer: Desperados

While I was in England during the month of March, I came across a beverage that combines my two favorite alcoholic preferences: tequila and beer. Deperados is a French-brewed, lemon-lime, tequila infused beer that packs a surprisingly crisp taste for being 5.9%. The tequila gives the beer a manly kick in the pants for a flavored beer that a typical American man would scoff at the offer of drinking. I found that adding a lime to the bottle, similar to Corona, intensified the lemon-lime flavors. While in dreary England I found this beer making me pine for those hot Wild, Wild, Wildwood night. Desperados isn’t imported to the United States, so if you find yourself abroad and Desperados is available, get on it like a car bonnet. For about 3 pounds a bottle at your favorite English pub, you could saddle up with Desperados and make it one hell of a night. – From RC

The offense is so weak right now, losing Lee has got to be messing with the mojo

Phils are playing some boring baseball against the worst team in the league today.

Anyone really believe they might be pulling together 2 or more runs in the top of the 9th?

I am really starting to dislike this Cameron Maybin

Up to bat for the Phils is the heart of the lineup – 3 hitter, cleanup hitter and #5 hitter – Jimmy, Punter and Vicki

Called phillies and cancelled my season tickets. Sold the rest off

Told the guy on the phone to shove them. Jimmy with millions
Get your teeth fixed. This lineup is just disgusting. The Yankees
Scored 15 runs in 4 innings. Imagine if we were down 9-0.
Stutes is horrible. This team is done. Selliuts will be gone.

    Go Yankees.

Way to keep it tight there Stutesy –
I was thinking, perhaps (stretching it here) if say Vic gets on base, maybe we’ll see Jim Thome again? He could stay in to play first base – of course if the Phils score 3 runs in the top of the 9th. Look, I have no doubt that San Diego will do its best to give the Phils another chance but …

I’d be surprised if the Phils can manage 1 hit, they are snake bit

Frustrating game. Luebke not at all overpowering but the Phillies can’t do anything more than scratch out 2 hits.

IT IS PANIC TIME !!!!!! OUR OFFENSE IS TERRIBLE AND WILL NOT IMPROVE. WE NEED A STRONG BAT……KENDRYS MORALES FROM THE ANGELS. HE WAS REPLACED BY ALBERT PULJOS. HE IS 29, A SWITCH HITTER AND CAN PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND FIRST BASE.

    RUBEN, GET ON THIS ASAP.

    RESPECTFULLY,

    BART SHART

ps: DANGLE BLANTON, MAYBERRY, AND A MINOR LEAGUE PITCHING PROSPECT PLUS MICHAEL MARTINEZ

Another high point Tracey – the Phils walked 3 times in this game, you heard it right, 3 times in 1 game!
